World Trade Organization

The World Trade Organisation, founded in 1995, is a global organisation with around 150 member counties. Its work is to deal with rules of trade between nations. This is done primarily through trade agreements signed by participating countries and ratified in their respective parliaments.

The WTO was established to encourage free trade and has played an important role in various international disputes concerning online gambling. The organisation has been particularly vocal in its efforts to encourage the US to drop their ban on offshore gambling sites which violates trade commitments and affects other nations' economies.
